Font of the Week

Tortuga is a new free font from Chank USA.  Created as a challege to intern Andrea McKay, to base a font on the arcs, flippers and form of a sea turtle, it is fat and flowing and looks great for a bold title.  Be sure to explore the other freebies at Chank USA.

July 08 Week 4 Team Challenge by The Scrap Pack

ImageWelcome to The Scrap Pack's weekly challenge.

On this day last year the final Harry Potter book was published - use four of something to symbolise the four Hogwarts houses.

In this week in 2005 Lance Armstrong won his seventh consecutive Tour de France so we'll need you to use some yellow in your layout to represent his winner's jersey.

In 1969 Apollo 11 splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean after it's historic trip to the moon. To symbolise this use space, stars or water in your lo.

...and because we are The Scrap Pack we'll challenge you to use some scraps.

To summarise:
Four of something - 5 points
Use yellow - 10 points
Use water/stars/space theme - 5 points
Use up some scraps - 10 points

To help you get started, here are some of ours:

Stargazer

Jab

Fizzydrink

Poppetsmummy

Pinkbaglady

July 08 Photography Contest

ImageHi there and welcome to the July 2008 Photo Competition, this is the last month for Ribbon Oasis to host the competition, it has been fun and we hope you have enjoyed the themes we have set. There will be a lovely Ribbon prize for the winner.

With the sun getting high up in the sky and hopefully some long sunny days ahead of us I thought that a good theme for July would be to focus on the dark that light from certain angles can give us so this months theme is .......

SHADOWS / SILHOUETTES

we hope you enjoy finding the shadows or creating some great silhouettes this month

Seeing Stars by Relliott71

Image A simple layout, with some lovely details - the pen stitching, the pleated paper adorned with buttons, the large starburst all come together to highlight a cute photo.  Loving the grid transparency as well.  Lovely to see the embellishments support the theme of the layout too. Check out the bigger version in her gallery.

Whola

Image

Whola is a nice, clean, rounded font.  Nice for a title, printed or cut big enough, it's also good for journaling.  Includes all the numbers and punctuation and some extended characters (including the £ and some nice brackets and parens but no € Euro symbol!)
